Thesis editing
I am helping Plant Daddy edit a graduate student thesis.
I am having a little trouble with non-chimeral autotetraploidization.
Between noom and 3PM, I have only got 26 pages read. Am I rusty or what?

Parakeet Mosaic Birdhouse
I made a mosaic birdhouse called "Parakeet House". It looks good on this post. I'll show a close up detail shot later in the week.
Tonight in class, the students will learn to do a mortar on cement application...otherwise known as Garden Rock mosaics.

Wash Your Neck, Honey!
I had a nightmare last night!
When Mind Escape was in 8th grade, she came to me in tears and asked for a doctor’s appointment.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
She pointed to the front of her neck. “I have a black growth,” she whimpered.
I examined the black growth carefully, then hauled her to the bathroom and washed the dirt off her neck! Problem solved!
Last night I dreamed that she was no longer washing her neck and was fired from her job for the black growth on her neck.
Wash your neck, Honey!
I must be having hormone surges/Mommy fluxes.
Is it hot in here or is it me?

NO PARKING!!!
All I wanted to do was run an errand….
To get to the bank, I usually turn right on 3rd and go 2 blocks to a right into the teller lane.
Today I turn right on 3rd and there sits a gigantic Zephyrhills truck. It is parked with its flashers just a blinking. It is parked right alongside a sign that reads “NO PARKING”
I see traffic backed up going south. I cannot get through going north. But wait!
From the office suite to my left…Here comes the Zephyrhills boy with a dolly of empty carboy bottles. He is kinda cute and I decide to watch him load up and leave.
He loads the empties and then he goes around and gets the fulls. Grrr.
I back up a half a block down 3rd and go around. This means I am in downtown Mt Dora and must fight the urge to roll down my window and scream, “GO HOME!” to all the Yankees waddling around the shops. Grrrr.
So I turn right and head up 4th then left towards the bank and….
There sits a giant SYSCO truck. It is parked with its flashers just a blinking right along a sign that reads “NO PARKING”.
I realize that if I pull into the public parking lot I can navigate around this beast, so I do, just missing being backed into by a stupid woman yakking on her cell phone in her green SUV. Grrrr.
The bank part goes well. But I have to go to a second bank, too.
I head back downtown. The stupid Yankees are jaywalking and just asking to be hit, but I make it 2 blocks to the other bank and park and go in. Whew!
There are 2 tellers. There are 2 customers. The two customers have “jam up the line” problems. I am first in a line that is 6 people long. We wait and wait and wait…while the freakin manager finishes a personal phone call.
Finally, because the line is now so long that no more customers can fit in the small lobby and they are lined up OUT the DOOR, she opens a window. Well, thank God for small favors.
But, I cannot get back to my car because a pasty, fat Ohioan has parked his car where the sign clearly says, ”NO PARKING”.
I am blocked in. I am hating him, glaring at him. He is talking it over with his fat pasty wife who is wearing an ugly hibiscus print shirt. Finally he moves his Crown Vic and I can go home and PARK! Grrrr!
Please donate to alleviate illiteracy!

Mosaic Table Top Butterfly
Tomorrow the student will come to the studio and apply sealer to her table and will be finished! It looks good!
Hello to all from the writers class. Are you here looking for the essay where I complain about the amount of homework? You'll have to wait till tomorrow. American Idol is running double sessions tonight, then there's House.
There's a cliff hanger for you! Tune in tomorrow.

No Mosaics Class Tonight
No class tonight due to the holiday. But in the remaining 2 Mondays, the class will make mosaic rocks. This may sound foolish to some, but remember in Florida we only have sand. If we want rocks, we have to make them ourselves!
Here's a photo of the class from last week.

Slow and cold
The weather is cold and rainy. We will be covering the plants again tonight against the freeze.
The Internet is extremely slow today. I have a top speed of 42!!! Dizzying. Grrr.
I think I will go practice the art of cooking today since gardening and surfing are out. I'll make roast pork and mashed potatoes! Yum!

Okie Dokie
Happy Happy...The Blogger gods have restored the "old fashioned" writing window again. Could this be real? Yay!
Spent yesterday digging tomatoes and cucumbers out of the garden and moving them indoors. We are expecting to be in the 20's tonight. What's up with this!?!
Homework for the writing class was another 4 pages. I will be happy when this is over. Even though I'm learning a huge amount.
The Wednesday class lady likes her tabletop now that it is grouted. She is like Plant Daddy in that regard. She doesn't read the andemento till the grout's in place.
Monday is a holiday. I get a night off from teaching! I can spend more time working on my mosaic birdhouse...which is looking so far so good!

Happy Valentine's Day
I was in the studio from 9:15 this morning until 7:45 tonight.
The students did a great job on their projects and even did mosaic garden rocks as a bonus!
I got a lot of miscellaneous tesserae sorted out and then grouted my picasette style birdhouse. It looks great!
Biggest surprize of the day: I got an email from Bisazza headquarters. The president of Bisazza called my mosaic Christmas tree "very creative"! That made me happy.
For Valentine's I got Plant Daddy a bottle of booze and a cigar. He got me a bottle of booze and some flowers. We are enjoying our gifts here in the den this evening, watching the Magic lose their game vs Portland....
Hey....I am not too drunk yet to notice that somebody at Blogger has fixed my window view box back from the new blogger style to the old style! Man O Man this is great...Thank you! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Anyway, now I am finding it harder and harder to type. I hope I'm not hung over and cranky tomorrow.
Love to all, Mom

Blogging Friend OK!
Thursday night, while I was at the Palm Writers Group, the librarian handed in a telephone message to our leader. He read to us that Beckyjoie was in the hospital.
I thought she might have been hurt in the tornados!
I tried to phone her at the hospital the next day, but couldn't reach her. Thought she was already discharged since that was Friday.
She emailed today! I was happy to hear that she is at home, recouperating from a really severe headache. But she reports that a new medicine should alleviate this! Yay!
She says she is eager to get back to writing.
I, on the other hand, have ditched my homework assignment in the "Write Your Novel" course that I am taking. I am usually the first to have homework turned in, etc. But I am suffering a case of burnout.
Yesterday I focused on mosaics and gardening and just relaxed. Felt Good!I needed a day off.
As for Plant Daddy, he took yesterday and went fishing.
We both just needed to enjoy the start of spring!

Gift!
A friend and his buddy just cleaned out their garage and gave me a ton of tile!
I am so amazed and grateful!
It's beautiful, 4" whites and unopened boxes!

I Still Don't Like New Blogger
I just posted up at an "old" Blog site. I sure do miss the old standard Blogger. I just hate this new format.
All students are doing well. Everyone from Monday is grout ready for next week.
One Wednesday student grouted today and will finish all trim and sealant next week. The other will grout next week.
I am fried on the novel writing course. I have written so much and I haven't had time to think and digest anything. I am skipping this weeks homework....which is write a 4 page synopsis of your novel.
I just wrote 4 pages of character analysis. That's all I got this week! Just an old fried brain that doesn't want to upgrade its Blogger unit. Nargh.

Killer Tornado and Killer Astronaut
Central Florida is an amazing place to live.
Thirty miles north, we have the Killer Tornado.
Thirty miles south, we have a Killer Astronaut.
It must be the Gamma Rays...zzzzz....zzzzz...I think I will wear a hat made out of aluminum foil today!
Anyway, the Monday night mosaic students are doing great. They will all grout next week! Woo Hoo. Then several are going to do a second project.
I have determined that Stepping Stones are too heavy. I will no longer offer that project at sites other than my studio.

Florida Tornadoes Lake County
We are OK. It was 30 miles north of us.
Waiting to hear from Beckyjoie. She was closer but still not directly in the swath.

Ok, I feel a little Better
Blogger just asked me what I thought of their new format and I got to tell them how much I hate it.
Look at this...I told the format I wanted Times font and it is damn Arial again. Crap!
This is like in the beginning years ago when Blogger crashed all the time. Then it didn't do pictures and I had to use Petri Dish. Then it crashed all the time when Beta was introduced.
Hating Blogger is a way of life for me.
The boys showed up and installed the new cabinets in the office today. Looks nice.
